CJ ENM's highly anticipated new series Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 has recently gone through several global pre-screening events in Thailand, the Philippines, and South Korea, ahead of its official premiere. The success of these previews highlighted the fortunate partnership between CJ ENM and Prime Video, while also signaling a commitment to the continued global marketing efforts of the two giants.
The events held in Bangkok and Manila, hosted by Prime Video, welcomed K-drama fans, influencers, and major local press, taking place in prestigious locations such as The House on Sathorn in Thailand and Salon de Ning at The Peninsula Manila in the Philippines on May 5.
During the pre-screenings there were also videos of the cast, shout-outs to event attendees, "Ask Us Everything" occasions, along with the first episode of the series, as well as various activities such as a "360 Photo Shoot" and a "Lucky Draw Event" that awarded attendees with signed posters of the actors.
The event was also previously held locally at Seoul by CJ ENM, where fans were invited to the screening and got to meet the actors and the director of the series on May 3.
Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, produced by CJ ENM's production powerhouse Studio Dragon, is a sequel to Tale of the Nine Tailed, and follows the story of Lee Yeon (portrayed by Lee Dong-wook), a nine-tailed fox who goes back in time to 1938 to help his sinful younger brother, Lee Rang (played by Kim Bum), with his reincarnation: the series thus explores their relationship and how it has changed over time.
The main cast members, composed of Lee Dong-wook, Kim So-yeon, Kim Bum, and Ryu Kyung-soo, expressed their gratitude to the fans in Thailand and the Philippines, and their excitement for the series, commenting: “We weren’t able to be there unfortunately, but we are glad to at least welcome all of you through this video. We wish every one of you enjoy watching the 1st episode of Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, and we hope we can meet in the further future.”
Sehee Jang, CJ ENM's head of global marketing, expressed her excitement about the success of the events and the partnership between CJ ENM and Prime Video, saying: “We are very excited to hear that the global fans genuinely enjoyed the pre-screening of the 1st episode and showed their high expectations for the show in general through these events. We are also genuinely grateful to the Prime Video team for holding this amazing global event. To further facilitate interactions between global fans and CJ ENM’s well-made K-drama, just as Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, we will devote ourselves to supporting the global marketing activities of our global partners."
