The highly anticipated Sky Exclusive series The Idol made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The series will air on Sky, and streaming on NOW, starting June 5.
The drama series revolves around Jocelyn (portrayed by Lily-Rose Depp) who, after a nervous breakdown derailed her last tour, is determined to reclaim her rightful status as America's biggest and sexiest pop star. Reigniting her passions is Tedros (played by Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will his romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or plunge her into the darkest depths of her soul?
Along with Tesfaye and Depp, the cast includes Troye Sivan, Dan Levy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son and Hank Azaria.
Sam Levinson (already behind the hit drama series Euphoria), Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye, Reza Fahim are co-creators and writers of the series; they are also executive producers, along with Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson, Joseph Epstein, Aaron L. Gilbert for BRON and Sara E. White. The series is directed by Sam Levinson and produced in partnership with A24.
