Factoría Henneo, which is taking part in the co-production event Conecta FICTION & ENTERTAINMENT held in Toledo starting on June 26, 2023, has just announced the adaptation of María Oruña’s best-selling novel Puerto Escondido into a TV series through an agreement reached with Book & Film Rights, foreign and audiovisual rights department of Grupo Planeta.
Puerto Escondido is the first volume of the mystery series Los libros del Puerto Escondido. It was published in September 2015, turning María Oruña into one the most outstanding Spanish writers of crime novels. With over one million readers, her books have been translated into many languages.
Puerto Escondido is a surprising noir novel in which the landscapes of Cantabria are the setting of a mysterious number of deaths and secrets from the Spanish Civil War. Past and present intertwine in this thriller revolving aruond police inspector Valentina Redondo.
Oliver inherits a colonial country house, Villa Marina, in the little coastal town of Suances, Northern Spain. During the renovation work at the manor, the body of a baby in a wall is discovered, along with an object that is totally anachronistic. Shortly after, a series of murders are committed at very short time intervals in the region: that, coupled to the incredible results of the forensic autopsies conducted on the corpses, keeps the Section of the Guardia Civil in charge of the investigation on tenterhooks, as well as Oliver himself, who embarks on an intense personal journey and a race against time to find the assassin.
To date, María Oruña has published five books for the series Los libros del puerto Escondido. In each story, in each mystery, the writer ventures further, always seeking new labyrinths, new plots that might represent a challenge in creating a thrilling account, which has turned her into a restless, successful writer.
Following the success of the saga, the ongoing collaboration between Factoría Henneo and Book & Film Rights in this project is mainly aimed at making a successful TV series based on those books. Producing the series is a joint effort that proves the commitment of both companies towards offering innovative and high-quality contents to their audiences.
