At the forefront of the pre-MIPTV day conference, MIPFormats, The Wit spotlighted the evolving landscape of entertainment formats shaped by social media influencers. In her presentation titled "Fresh Garden: Content Creators," Virginia Mouseler, CEO of the consultancy, emphasized the burgeoning influence of independent creators on social platforms, reshaping storytelling in entertainment formats. She also mentioned the case of Mr Beast and Prime Video's announcement and his new reality show already definied as "big big big".
Highlighted among these was Legends Of Life from CBC/Radio-Canada's platform, Ici TOU.TV, showcasing content directly produced by prominent Twitch and YouTube personalities. Mouseler noted the widespread consumption of such content, attributed to the established fame of these creators in online filmmaking circles.
Mouseler also underscored how established companies like CJ ENM are embracing this narrative shift. Their format Couple Palace, a dating survival show, introduces a fresh twist to the traditional dating format, capturing attention and interest.
This trend has even piqued the curiosity of FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) players like The Roku Channel. Their recent launch of Carpe DM with Juampa features influencer Juanpa Zurita engaging in fast-paced dynamics sourced from his Instagram DMs, showcasing the potential of influencer-driven content in the streaming sphere.
Moreover, established formats such as Dancing With the Stars and The Big Brother have found new life in shorter formats tailored for platforms like Twitch. These adaptations feature live broadcasts spanning over 24 hours, offering audiences immersive experiences with the format's dynamics, thus expanding their reach to new audiences. Daincing with the Internet Stars and Big Brother Knossi are the show mentioned.
