MIPCOM CANNES Announces 2024 Diversify TV Awards Nominees, Highlighting Global Diversity in Television

MIPCOM CANNES announced the nominees for the 2024 Diversify TV Awards, set for the second day of the 40th International Co-Production & Entertainment Content Market (21-24 October) in Cannes. These awards, celebrating diversity and inclusion in TV, are organized by MIPCOM CANNES, Diversify TV, and A+E Media Group. Submissions came from 29 countries, with nominees from 11, including Malaysia's first.

The awards will be held on Tuesday, 22 October, from 12.00 to 13.00 in the Palais des Festivals' Grand Auditorium. The event, open to all MIPCOM delegates, will be hosted by Femi Oke, joined by Adam Pearson and Nicky Doll as presenters. This year, Banijay Entertainment will receive the Behind the Scenes Impact Award for their Banijay Launch initiative.

Director Lucy Smith emphasized that the awards highlight content that promotes inclusivity and representation, with nominees spanning nearly 30 countries. The awards honor content representing Race & Ethnicity, LGBTQIA+, and Disabled communities that challenges stereotypes and demonstrates originality in storytelling.

Key nominations include:
Race & Ethnicity – Scripted: That Cover Girl (Malaysia), Three Little Birds (UK), We Are Lady Parts S2 (UK).
LGBTQIA+ – Scripted: Cris Miró (She/Her/Hers) (Argentina), Fellow Travelers (US), Lost Boys & Fairies (UK).
Disability – Scripted: Deaf Voice (Japan), One of Us S2 (France), The Squeaky Wheel (Canada).
