BBC Studios announces first international license for In With a Shout in France
BBC Studios has confirmed its first international license for gameshow format In With A Shout to W9, France. Created by Expectation and produced locally by BBC Studios Productions France, the French adaptation will be entitled Video Quiz and is confirmed to be hosted by actor Issa Doumbia (Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom). The primetime series is due to air this Thursday 24th October.

In With A Shout has three uniquely challenging rounds, a variable money ladder and 10 different categories displayed on individual screens, contestants must correctly identify the images for a chance to increase their prize pot. However, answer the question wrong, and they watch their winnings drop. With only four seconds on the clock to answer, players must take on the TVs and act fast to be in with a shout.

The license agreements come at the start of a bespoke session hosted by BBC Studios for international buyers dedicated to the global appeal of Gameshow and quiz formats.

Matt Forde, Managing Director, Global Entertainment, BBC Studios said, “We are really proud of the current slate of varied and exciting titles we have to offer the market. Working with our amazing local teams and brilliant creators, ensures local audiences get tailor-made versions of titles like In With A Shout. Video Quiz is a perfect example of how we will deliver the show locally and we look forward to it arriving on screens in France this week.”

New quiz and gameshow formats launched this week at Mipcom include BBC Studios Entertainment Productions The Answer Run, a high-stakes game show which sees three teams battle it out for one cash prize. Every question travels down the ‘run’, and the players must sort the questions into the correct answer to bank the cash. Victory depends on a split-second swipe. With the pressure of time, will they make the right decision or risk walking away with nothing?

From BBC Studios Entertainment Productions, Nippon TV and Empire of Arkadia, Koso Koso’s contestants think they are in a product review show, unaware of the secret squad of celebrity sneakers constantly observing their every move. The celebrity sneakers must skillfully complete ridiculous missions without getting caught to win cash for the clueless contestants. Once the missions conclude, the biggest secret is revealed: contestants find out about the gameshow they never knew they were playing and face a final challenge alongside the celebrities to win the cash prize.

Created by STV Studios, Bridge of Lies sees teams of contestants competing for cash by crossing a bridge made up of stepping stones across the studio floor. Each stepping stone has a different option, and the players must try to get from A to B by stepping on the truths and avoiding the lies, or risk falling off the bridge and out of the game.

Finally, Silence is Golden from Yes Yes Media Production is a TV first as it’s the very first comedy game show where it pays not to laugh. Quite literally. The studio audience begin with a shared prize pot of £250k and all they have to do to keep it is not make a sound. But when confronted with a team of entertainers who will do anything and everything to make the audience break their silence, chaos starts to unfold.
