The programme follows 7 ‘vanlifers’ as they embark on a romantic road trip through Europe's most scenic destinations: surfing on the Portuguese coast, hiking in the mountains of Norway, experiencing a new culture in Tunisia and so on. Ideally, these ‘vanlifers’ would like to share this free existence with someone, so they go on dates during their journey. The ‘vanlifers’ themselves choose a number of dates from the applications, and a small committee of friends and/or family members choose one or two extra dates to have ready as a surprise along the way.
The date is free to leave at any time if the chemistry is not right. Even the 'vanlifers' can decide that they're not in and end the love adventure. Several dates can travel at the same time, so the question of who sleeps where often arises. The singles end their journey at the love destination: a beautiful place where they hope to arrive with a potential new love.
The format is a combination of travel and dating show that is becoming increasingly trendy: see, for example, the recent Turn On The Charm, also from the Netherlands, which uses the same ingredients (with the extra 'psycho-reality' touch à la The Traitors).
