Netflix’s highly anticipated miniseries Senna debuts today, November 29, 2024, offering an intimate and inspiring portrait of Ayrton Senna, the Brazilian Formula 1 legend whose life and career left an indelible mark on motorsport and beyond. Spanning six episodes, the series traces the journey of the three-time Formula 1 World Champion, capturing his triumphs, challenges, and personal moments in a way never seen before.

The series begins with Ayrton’s early racing days, following his move to England to compete in Formula Ford. From there, it chronicles his meteoric rise to the pinnacle of Formula 1 and culminates in the tragic events of the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, Italy. The series goes beyond the racetrack to explore Senna’s personality, relationships, and the qualities that made him a global icon of resilience, determination, and excellence.

The miniseries boasts a stellar ensemble cast, blending Brazilian and international talent. Alice Wegmann plays Lilian, Ayrton’s first wife, while Camila Márdila portrays his sister, Vivianne Senna. Christian Malheiros appears as Maurinho, his close friend, and Julia Foti embodies Adriane Galisteu, his partner. Marco Ricca takes on the role of Milton, Ayrton’s father, while Pâmela Tomé portrays Xuxa, a key figure in his life.

The international cast includes notable performances from Arnaud Viard as Jean-Marie Balestre, Johannes Heinrichs as Niki Lauda, Leon Ockenden as James Hunt, Mat Mella as Alain Prost, and Patrick Kennedy as Ron Dennis. Directed by Vicente Amorim and Julia Rezende, with Amorim also serving as showrunner, Senna is produced by Gullane in collaboration with Senna Brands and Ayrton Senna’s family. The writing team, led by Gustavo Bragança, includes Álvaro Campos, Rafael Spínola, Thais Falcão, and Álvaro Mamute, who have crafted a narrative that delves deeply into Senna’s humanity while honoring his extraordinary achievements.
