Belcanto is a new Rai 1 fiction set in Italy in 1847, telling the story of Maria (played by Vittoria Puccini) and her two daughters, Antonia (Caterina Ferioli) and Carolina (Adriana Savarese). The three women flee from Naples to escape the violence of their husband and father, Iginio Cuoio (Antonio Gerardi), and seek a new life in Milan, hoping to fulfill Antonia’s dream of becoming an opera singer. The series explores themes such as the struggle for freedom, artistic ambitions, and family secrets, as the protagonists face deception, passion, and betrayal in the world of opera. Directed by Carmine Elia, the series consists of 8 episodes divided into 4 evenings, airing on Rai 1 starting February 24, 2025. It is a co-production between Rai Fiction and Lucky Red, with the participation of Umedia. The project also involves the collaboration of Newen Connect and UFunds.
