Beta/Eagle Eye crime drama Patience is Channel 4’s Top Performing Show of 2025 so far
Beta Film’s and Eagle Eye's crime drama Patience (6x1h) is the Top Performing Show of 2025 on Channel 4 across both streaming and linear TV factoring in the 28-day consolidated figures. The unlikely duo of DI Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) and young police archivist Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis, A Kind of Spark, Malpractice) celebrated an immense ratings success during its premiere and secured a strong following, averaging over 4 million viewers across the series across TV and streaming.

Patience is the latest project of Beta Film’s longstanding collaboration with Eagle Eye Drama hitting the screens in the UK and follows in the footsteps of the highly successful series The Couple Next Door on Channel 4. The dark psychological drama starring Sam Heughan and Eleanor Tomlinson became Channel 4’s biggest scripted streaming launch ever. Eagle Eye and Beta recently announced the fifth season of audience favorite Professor T (30x1h), while the latest cooperation Bookish, led by Primetime Emmy Award winner Mark Gatiss, will be presented to international buyers by Beta Film during the London TV Screenings.

Patience Evans works in the criminal records department of Yorkshire Police, cataloguing and filing the evidence produced during major cases. A young autistic woman, she craves routine and order, relishing the solitude and structure her job provides, though yearning for more. A brilliant, self-taught criminologist, Patience has an instinctive eye for crime scenes and a passion for problem solving. A chance meeting with Detective Bea Metcalf opens a door into a whole new world for Patience.

The six-hour series is directed by Maarten Moerkerke (13 Commandments) and adapted from the original French series Astrid et Raphaëlle, produced by JLA Productions, France Télévisions and BE-Films. Matt Baker (Hotel Portofino, Professor T, Suspect) leads the writing team and is joined by Sarah Freethy (The Porcelain Maker), Daniella De Vinter (Before We Die S2), both of whom bring personal experience with autism to the project and Stephen Brady (Professor T). Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino serve as executive producers for Eagle Eye Drama, an ITV Studios company.

PBS Distribution holds the North American rights to Patience. The six-hour crime drama will launch in the US on PBS and will be available to stream on the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org and the PBS Video app, available on iOS, Android, Roku streaming devices, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast and VIZIO.
Patience is produced by Eagle Eye Drama in cooperation with Beta Film, who also handle worldwide distribution.
