Bolytics, a cross-border media company specializing in connecting European content with Asian markets, announces a landmark distribution deal for the historical drama series Voltaire in Love from Germany’s ZDF Studios. The series is now successfully streaming on Sohu Video, one of China's leading online video platforms. Its distribution journey in China also includes broadcasts on five major regional channels: Sichuan TV, Guizhou TV, Shandong TV, Henan TV, and Jilin TV. Voltaire in Love premiered last week on Sichuan TV and Guizhou TV, with airings on the remaining three channels scheduled in the coming weeks.
Produced by Siècle Productions in co-production with France Télévisions, this 4×52’ French-language period piece stars Thomas Solivérès (‘The Intouchables’; ‘Cyrano, my Love’) as the legendary philosopher Voltaire, with a stellar supporting cast including Christa Theret, Eric Caravaca, and Hippolyte Girardot. The series explores the early life and evolution of the Enlightenment philosopher and visionary Voltaire, blending romance, sharp wit, and political intrigue against the vivid backdrop of 18th-century Europe.
"We are thrilled to introduce Chinese audiences to this exceptional European drama," said Bo Zhang, Founder and CEO of Bolytics. "The successful release of 'Voltaire in Love' underscores a rising appetite in China for high-quality, international scripted content.
