The 8th edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, conceived and directed by Tiziana Rocca, is set to take place from June 19 to 22 in Cagliari and at the Forte Village resort. Over the years, the festival has carved out a unique identity by bringing together cinema and television under one banner, offering a vibrant mix of screenings, talks, and presentations of both films and TV series. It continues to attract major distributors, production companies, and VOD and television industry giants.
This year’s edition will once again be held in collaboration with APA – the Italian Audiovisual Producers Association, and with the patronage of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Cagliari, the Costa Smeralda Consortium, and in partnership with Forte Village.
Heading the short film competition jury will be Micaela Ramazzotti, an award-winning actress and director, known for her compelling performances in Il nome del figlio by Francesca Archibugi, Gli anni più belli by Gabriele Muccino, and Felicità, her directorial debut which won the Orizzonti Extra section at the 80th Venice Film Festival.
The short film competition, titled Filming Italy Sardegna - In Corto, continues its successful collaboration with the University of Cagliari and professor Massimo Arcangeli. This initiative offers young students the opportunity to engage with the world of filmmaking and promotes their work not only in Italy but also abroad, particularly in the United States.
“I’m thrilled to announce the eighth edition of the Filming Italy Sardegna Festival,” said Tiziana Rocca, General Director of the event. “Taking place between two of Europe’s major film events — Cannes and Venice — our festival opens the summer season for cinema and has become a key reference point for both Italian and international films and TV series. The program will once again include an array of screenings, discussions, and networking moments for filmmakers, students, and cinema lovers."
Rocca added: "I’m especially delighted to welcome Micaela Ramazzotti as president of the short film jury. Her remarkable talent and experience bring exceptional value to the festival and will offer deeper insight into the quality and innovation of this category."
Preparations are already underway to finalize an impressive lineup of international guests, including actors, directors, and producers from across the globe. The festival will showcase a wide variety of titles, from international and Italian films to documentaries, restored classics, TV series, and short films — many of which will be world premieres.
The event will also feature panels, webinars, and masterclasses in collaboration with film schools and universities from across Italy, as part of the Academy Cinema initiative.
“This eighth edition promises to be an extraordinary celebration of cinema in all its forms,” concluded Rocca, “set against the stunning backdrop of Sardinia — a land whose beauty enhances the passion and creativity of the cinematic arts.”
