Netflix Lands Monopoly Competition Series in Bidding War
Netflix has secured the rights to the upcoming Monopoly competition series following a heated bidding process, sources tell Variety.

Originally announced in March, the reality show quickly sparked interest across the entertainment industry. Inspired by the iconic Hasbro board game, the series is being described as a “large-scale social-experiment contest” where contestants must forge alliances and betray one another in a high-stakes race to “own it all.” The game is said to walk a fine line between “capitalism and chaos,” echoing the ruthless dynamics of its tabletop counterpart.

Produced by Hasbro Entertainment, Monopoly represents the latest move by Netflix to expand its slate of unscripted shows built around well-known IPs. The streaming giant has already found success with Squid Game: The Challenge, and is currently developing The Golden Ticket, a competition series set in the world of Willy Wonka.

While Netflix declined to comment, this acquisition highlights the company’s ongoing strategy to transform beloved properties into global entertainment events—blending nostalgia, innovation, and audience engagement in new, immersive formats.
