German Independent production Tresor launches new German scripted division
German independent production company Tresor, specialised in producing reality, factual entertainment and variety shows, is launching a brand new scripted division, called Keshet Tresor Fiction. In a strategic move born out of its recent acquisition by Keshet International in 2017, Tresor will leverage KI’s catalogue of scripted titles such as ‘Prisoners of War’, ‘The A Word’ and ‘When Heroes Fly’, to capitalise on the growing demand for drama content. Keshet Tresor Fiction will focus on developing and producing high-quality scripted series and films in Germany and for the OTTs. Working out of separate offices located in the centre of Munich, Keshet Tresor Fiction will officially be open for business on Monday October 1. Hired by and reporting into Axel Kühn, Managing Director of Tresor, Christina Christ will lead the new team of dedicated drama specialists in her newly-created role as Director of Fiction Programs. A seasoned executive producer and producer, Christina joins the company from Bavaria Fiction, where she has spent the last seven years developing, producing and selling a wide range of prime time movies for public and private broadcasters in Germany, as well as completing feature films with partners like 20th Century Fox. Other new hires include Tina Hechinger, who joins Keshet Tresor Fiction in the role of Producer. Tina has 10 years of development and production experience working with various production companies, including Bavaria Filmproduktion, Bavaria Fiction and Uschi Reich Filmproduktion. In addition, Konstantin Kühnle joins as Dramatic Adviser from Rat Pack Filmproduktion and Prof Dr Eva Stadler (Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart, executive producer of ‘4 Blocks’, ‘Add A Friend’) supports the core team as a freelance Consultant. Keshet Tresor Fiction’s first project will be KI’s ‘The Baker and The Beauty’, having signed a co-production development deal with Constantin Television that will see the two companies develop the romantic comedy for the German market. Originally created by Assi Azar for Keshet 12, ‘The Baker and The Beauty’ follows the impossible love story between a simple baker and an international superstar. Each of the two series broke all ratings records for a scripted show in Israel, and both seasons were quickly picked up by Amazon Prime in a worldwide licensing deal that saw the addictive romantic comedy streamed in more than 200 countries. Currently in production in Russia, the format is being locally adapted for Russian audiences by Art Pictures Studios Russia for CTC. Recent high-profile commissions for Tresor include KI’s dance format ‘Masters of Dance’, by Germany’s commercial TV channel ProSieben, alongside successful local versions of the popular formats including ‘Curvy Supermodel’ (RTL2), ‘A2 Abenteuer Autobahn’ (DMAX), ‘Koch die Box / Cook It Yourself’ (Kabel Eins), and most recently a special winter season of ‘Ewige Helden’ (Eternal Glory), filmed close to the polar circle.
