‘Honour,' the brand new crime thriller from Swedish producers Bigster, has sold to Belgian public service broadcaster VRT, in the first deal struck by international distributor Eccho Rights for the title. Ordered by Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), the series premieres on NENT Group’s streaming service Viaplay in autumn 2019, with free-to-air broadcast on their TV3 channel.

This first international deal for the series follows pre-sales pitching at MIPCOM in October, which generated significant interest in the global market.

Law firm Heder (the Swedish word for ‘honour') is run by four hungry and talented female lawyers, fighting for justice on behalf of those who need it most. But the four partners have another constant battle on their hands; to keep a fiercely guarded secret that threatens to undermine their work and would spell the end for Heder should the truth be revealed…

“I was immediately taken by the style, colour and intense emotion of the series, from just the first few seconds of the preview trailer,” says Sven Van Lokeren, Programme Acquisitions at VRT. “Scandinavian crime drama has been very successful but this story of four women with heart, humour but also fear in their lives, really breathes new life in to the genre. We were already hooked on the concept from the script phase.”

‘Honour' features a stellar line up of Swedish acting talents, with Alexandra Rapaport (‘Gåsmamman’), Anja Lundqvist (‘ALEX’), Julia Dufvenius (‘Modus’) and Eva Röse (‘Maria Wern’) in the leading roles. Rapaport, Lundqvist and Dufvenius are all co-creators of the series alongside fellow Swedish actor Sofia Helin (‘The Bridge’).

“This series is already making waves internationally while shooting is still underway, with its fiercely contemporary subject matter, thrilling story line and unique production model, with creators and producers on both sides of the camera. We have seen huge amounts of interest from buyers,” says Nicola Söderlund, Managing Partner at Eccho Rights.
