Netflix has ordered a six-part series based on Swedish movie trilogy Snabba Cash (Easy Money) from Bonnier-owned SF Studios. The thrillers are based on Jens Lapidus’s 2006 novel of the same name, which sees the worlds of entrepreneurial jet-setters and criminals colliding.
The first film was released in 2010, while the third debuted in 2013. The Netflix series will carry on from the films, taking place in Stockholm 10 years later. It is produced by SF Studios, which was behind the films and has also made series including Seaside Hotel, Rita, The Lawyer, Alex and The Hunters. Lapidus and screenwriter Oskar Soderlund will pen the show, with the novelist also exec producing.
Tesha Crawford, Netflix director of international originals for Northern Europe, added: “We are excited about working with Oskar and Jens and their vision for this new chapter of Snabba Cash. With SF Studios on board, we also have an incredibly strong local partner.”
