ITVS GE signs first look deal with Alchemy Entertainment

ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has inked a first look deal with Alchemy Entertainment Ltd. Founder, Kate Sinclair, who is responsible for sourcing and acquiring the rights to a raft of highly successful film properties pre publication, including SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN, set up Alchemy earlier this year after being an Executive Producer at the Forge for three years. During her tenure she developed and Executive produced the award-winning BBC1 and Masterpiece drama, The Miniaturist.

Alchemy Entertainment aims to bring the values and expertise of film to television and Kate has migrated her slate from the Forge to the new company. She was also formerly an Executive Producer at Company Pictures where she acquired and developed nine television projects.

Alchemy has also brought on BAFTA award-winning Kevin Loader (The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies, The Death of Stalin, The Lady in the Van) and Paul Ritchie (McMafia, The Woman in Black, Nowhere Boy), both of whom have worked extensively across television and film, to help source, develop and produce for the company.

Kate Sinclair, founder of Alchemy said, “Our aim is to make bold, ambitious and vivid stories in a cinematic way. We hope to bring our passion, expertise and relationships from the film industry to the small screen and already have a diverse, exciting slate of both new and established projects in development. We are truly delighted to be working with the wonderful team at ITVS GE whose international panache and vision makes them a fantastic distribution partner for us.”

Ruth Berry, Managing Director ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said “Kate and her team at Alchemy Entertainment have the potent combination of the ability to think big and the pedigree to bring those ideas to life. They join a number of producers in the ITV family who excel in the production of both telvision and film. We look forward to supporting them and sharing what I’m sure will be exceptional creations with audiences worldwide.”

Before her work at Company Pictures, Kate worked for ten years in film for Film 4, the UK Film Council, Kudos, Seesaw and Aardman, among others. The deal was brokered by Kate Barnes, SVP Global Content Scripted and Simon Read, Head of Legal and Business Affairs at ITV Studios Global Entertainment and by Simon Vyvyan, Head of Legal Affairs at TVA Media, on behalf of Alchemy.
