Film and TV prodco Amazon Studios, a subsidiary of e-commerce and tech giant Amazon, has greenlit a new unscripted series with celebrity couple Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas, inspired by the Indian pre-wedding tradition Sangeet.
Sangeet, which takes place the night before the wedding ceremony and features a performance-filled evening of song and dance with the betrothed and their families, played an important role in the lead up to Chopra Jonas (pictured right) and Jonas’s (left) own wedding last year.
The currently untitled Sangeet project will follow participants planning their own respective ceremonies. The featured couples will hail from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and locations. Each episode will follow an engaged couple and wedding party along with their family and friends as they prepare for the wedding and rehearse an epic performance with the help of a team of celebrity choreographers, stylists and creative directors.
The series is produced by Amazon Studios and Alfred Street Industries. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Nick Jonas, Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Volpe, Anjula Acharia, Phil McIntyre and Nina Anand Aujla will serve as executive producers. (@Realscreen)
