As part of the new slate, ESB has signed development deals with comedy stars Fran Hevia, Alex Fernandez, Michelle Rodriguez, Ricardo O’Farrill and El Diablito for a “handful” of new series which will be offered to buyers this winter.
Series in development include Mananas Magicas, a comedy sketch show headlined by Hevia, Fernandez and Rodriguez; Janguea y Rapea, a music and comedy show with O’Farrill; and Me Lleva el Diablo, a comedy transformation reality series hosted by El Diablito.
“Comedy always saves us. I think people really want stories they can relate to. They want to laugh and feel complicit with the characters who tell those stories,” said Rodriguez.
ESB recently signed an overall deal with actress Kate del Castillo to develop, produce and star in original scripted and unscripted series. It also recently signed a development and production deal with producer Gaston Pavlovich and his Mexico City-based prodco Fabrica de Cine.
