Netflix will premiere a new fantasy series based on young adult bestseller of Dutch writer Tonke Dragt. The novel “De brief voor de Koning”, published in 1962, won in 1976 the national prize for children's literature.
The series titled The Letter for a King (6 episodes), is produced by FilmWave and directed by by Alex Holmes and Felix Thompson. The showrunner is Will Davies. The series will be premiered starting from 20th March on the streaming platform. The Letter for king benefits of other TV series’ success, such as Games of Thrones or the most recent The Witcher.
The main character is a young Amir Wilson (His Dark Materials); he plays the brave teenager Tiuri who receives an epic mission to become knight. Tiuri will have to deliver a secret letter for the king, upon which depends the whole kingdom’s destiny. All typical fantasy elements are present in the series:
prophecies, spells and dangers.
Starring by two actors of “Lord of the Rings”: David Wenham (Faramir) and especially Andy Serkis, the famous Gollum of the saga.
