Beta Film's series Hudson & Rex has been picked up for a third season
Beta Film’s ongoing success series Hudson & Rex has been picked up for a third season with 16 new one-hour episodes. Production is scheduled to begin this July in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where the series is set. Produced by Shaftesbury and Pope Productions in association with Citytv and Beta Film, Hudson & Rex (48 h) is an action-packed police procedural drama focused on the partnership between a dedicated detective (John Reardon, "The Killing," "Van Helsing") and his extraordinary former K9 dog (German shepherd Diesel vom Burgimwald).

The crime series is the first English-language adaptation of the highly successful European format, Rex, A Cop's Best Friend, and had reached more than 2.5 million viewers on Citytv with its first six episodes, making it the network's highest-rated original series. Not only popular in Canada, Hudson & Rex has already been sold to over 100 territories, among others to Germany, France, Italy, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa. A US deal is in final negotiations. Beta Film handles world sales.
