Today the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards announced that Ay Yapim series The Choice is a finalist for Best Serial Drama. It is the only finalist from Turkey this year. The winner will be announced September 10th in a special ceremony livestreamed from Seoul
The Choice was selected as one of eight finalists for Best Serial Drama out of 44 nominated programmes from 15 different countries, and it is Ay Yapim’s seventh Serial Drama finalist this decade. They won the category last year with Crash, which became the fifth Ay Yapim series to win a prize in Seoul, along with Ezel (2012), Medcezir (2014), Endless Love (2016) and Brave and Beautiful (2017).
“The Choice is a special series,” said Ay Yapim CEO Kerem Çatay. “It balances a sophisticated plot with powerful interpersonal drama. I am very pleased it was nominated for this honor.”
In The Choice, an unemployed professor concocts what turns out to be Turkey’s largest-ever financial fraud in the course of trying to save his son’s life. The series features an all-star ensemble including Halit Ergenç (Magnificent Century, Wounded Love), Ozan Güven (Magnificent Century, Phi), Aslı Enver (Evermore), Birce Akalay (Price of Passion), Nur Fettahoğlu (Magnificent Century, Sisters) and Mesut Akusta (Black Rose).

"Viewers around the world associate Ay Yapim with high-quality programming,” said Ateş Ince, MADD’s Managing Director. “The Choice is just the latest series to prove that point.”
2020 marks the 15th edition of the Seoul International Drama Awards. The awards ceremony will be held at the MBC Media Center Public Hall on September 10 and will be broadcast via live streaming.
