Studio Dragon presents a new thriller fantasy series titled The Uncanny Counter (16x60') for Netflix.
The story is focused on a group of superheroes who run a noodle restaurant with a long line of customers by day and chase demons in red sweatsuits by night. They have no shields or fancy armor, nor do they shoot lasers from their eyes; however, they make incredible noodles and fend off the demons with their outstanding teamwork.
Chu Mae-ok (played by Yeom Hye-ran), the leader of the “Counters” who has healing powers; Ga Mo-tak (played by Yu Jun-sang), a man with superhuman strength; and Do Ha-na (played by Kim Se-jeong), who has the power to detect evil spirits. These three people almost crossed the threshold of death for different reasons before coming back to life. They were allowed to live again because they accepted an offer to catch demons and send them back to the universe. These heroes accept So Mun (played by Cho Byeong-kyu), a boy who lost his parents and injured his leg in an unfortunate accident when he was young, as their new teammate and fight demons together.
The Uncanny Counter, a cathartic and explosive superhero drama about demon hunters called “Counters” posing as employees of a noodle restaurant, is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. Despite having only four episodes released as of now, this series is growing popular day by day on South Korea’s tvN channel and Netflix, the global entertainment service.
StudioDragon, the company that produced The Uncanny Counter, had raised expectations by announcing, “We guarantee there is one moment of laughter, one moment of tears, and one moment of healing per episode,” but the favorable reviews of Korean and international viewers are far beyond expectation. It’s time to fall in love with these demon hunters who are somewhat clumsy, but more warmhearted and down-to-earth than anyone else.
