Amazon Prime Video Announces Italian True Crime Docuseries, Veleno: The Town of Lost Children
Amazon Prime Video today announced that Veleno: The Town of Lost Children, a five-part true crime docuseries inspired by the book “Veleno. Una storia vera” by Pablo Trincia (Einaudi Publishing, 2019) and written and directed by Hugo Berkeley, will launch exclusively on Prime Video in Italy in May 2021. Veleno is produced by Fremantle Italy and Ettore Paternò is the Executive Producer. Fremantle will handle the global distribution rights for the series.

Veleno: The Town of Lost Children is a true crime story and narrates the Italian 'Satanic Panic' phenomenon, chronicling the events that took place in Mirandola, Finale Emilia and Massa Finalese in Northern Italy between 1997 and 1998, where over twenty people were accused of belonging to a group dubbed “the devils of Lower Modena,” who, according to the prosecution, have been accused of pedophilia and violence against 16 children. Following a confession by one of the members of the group of children, an in-depth investigation was conducted by Italian police which resulted in families torn apart and all the children involved being taken away from their families.

Veleno: The Town of Lost Children will join the thousands of TV series and movies available in the Prime Video catalogue, including Italian produced Amazon Originals LOL: Chi ride è fuori, FERRO and Celebrity Hunted – Caccia all’uomo, as well as the globally critically acclaimed and award-winning Amazon Original series such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Fleabag, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Hunters, The Boys, Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, Coming 2 America, Good Omens and Carnival Row, as well as licensed content and the upcoming exclusive live broadcasts in Italy of the 16 top UEFA Champions League Wednesday matches, along with the UEFA Super Cup, from season 2021/22. Other Italian Amazon Original series announced and in production are Bang Bang Baby, Vita da Carlo, Dinner Club, Everybody Loves Diamonds, Celebrity Hunted – Caccia all’uomo S2 and All or Nothing: Juventus.

Prime members will be able to watch Veleno: The Town of Lost Children via the Prime Video app available on smart TVs, mobile devices, Fire TV, Fire TV stick, Fire tablets, Apple TV, game consoles, Chromecast and through Vodafone TV. On the Prime Video app, viewers can download all episodes on their mobile devices and tablets and watch anywhere offline at no additional cost, all part of a Prime membership which costs just €36/year.
