Beta Film has picked up international distribution rights to the Norwegian coming-of-age series Rod Knock. The YA drama swept the competition winning seven times at Norway’s TV Award “Gullruten”. Dominating with no less then eleven nominations overall, the series won in such prestigious categories as Best Drama series, Best Director, Best Script, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Produced by Fenomen and Storyline for NRK, a highly anticipated third season of the young adult drama is going to start shooting in mid-May.
Rod Knock (16x25’) is following the footsteps of the international hit series ‘Skam’ (‘Shame’), which paved the way for a new era of coming-of-age storytelling in serialized TV. Breaking records with a digital viewership of more than one million, the highly authentic young adult series Rod Knock is among the most binged series in Norway.
Set in rural Norway, Rod Knock focuses on a group of gearheads hitting the roadblocks that can come with early adulthood: heartache, uncertainty and loss - a story of young love and lives derailed.
Rod Knock is directed by Daniel Fahre (Born2Drive, Marcus & Martinius – Together) and produced by Tom Marius Kittilsen, Janne Hjeltnes and Knut Inge Solbu, while scriptwriting credits go to Student Academy Award winner Linn-Jeanethe Kyed (Tuba Atlantic, Burning).
Odin Waage (Eyewitness, The Hunger) stars next to Sjur Vatne Brean (Atlantic Crossing, Out Stealing Horses), Maja Evenshaug Christiansen (Poison, The Games), among others.
Beta Film handles world sales excluding Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
