¨With our presence at Mipcom we are about to close a year that has undoubtedly been an incredible one for Megamedia catalogue in terms of internationalization, with the adaptation in other countries of great stories such as Life is Life, the TVI Portugal version of Casa de Muñecos; and the participation of many titles in international festivals, even receiving important awards and nominations, as is the case of the biographical series ISABEL, nominated and winner of a 2022 Platinum Award for the performance of Daniela Ramírez in the role of Isabel Allende, and now nominated for Best TV Miniseries at the International Emmy Awards. Along with this great series, are new innovative stories and top-quality productions, such as: Sons of the Desert, Baltazar´s Law and Sea of Love¨, commented Esperanza Garay, CEO of MGE.
Sons of the Desert is a high-end historical production, set in the great north of Chile in 1907, where two little brothers, Pedro (Gastón Salgado) and Antonio (Jorge Arecheta), are forcibly separated when their parents were riddled in a worker massacre. Gaspar was adopted by an officer in charge of the repression, while Pedro flees from a home for minors, growing up on the streets of the city of Valparaiso. Antonio, now called Gaspar, without knowing that he was adopted, grew up in the Sanfuentes family surrounded by privileges that money allows. While Pedro has become one of the most respected criminals on the streets, finding his younger brother and avenging the death of his parents will be his motivations. Twenty-five years later, they meet again without knowing that they are brothers. Gaspar, now a policeman, was sent to the port to fight a gang of smugglers and criminals, led by Pedro. Both will become great enemies, especially when they fall in love with the same woman. All this, in a context of political upheaval and international intrigue.
Baltazar´s Law is a wonderful dramedy that tells the story of Baltazar Rodríguez, an outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic man, owner of a farm by the sea in southern Chile, widower and father of three adults’ children, whom he sees little and with whom the relationship has never been good. However, a sudden heart attack causes Baltazar's world to come to a standstill and family alerts get activated. His three children, worried about his isolation, want to "retire" him from the countryside and move him to the capital where they all live, but he is not willing to postpone his dreams because of his age, and even less to allow his children to control his life. So, he decides to show them that, even at his age he can live his way and not how they want to force him to live. Also, aware that time is running out, he will look for a way to conquer what was the great love of his life: Sister Margarita, a nun who oversees the village school. Baltazar will do everything in her power to get her to hang up her habits and be happy with him in the twilight of their lives.
