Filming of the highly anticipated new episodes of HBO series House of the Dragon has begun at Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom. Based on George R.R. Martin's novel "Fire and Blood" set 200 years before the events mentioned in "The Iron Throne" in the Game of Thrones saga, the series revolves around the history of House Targaryen and the civil war brought about by the king’s succession to the throne. The new season will debut soon on Sky and streaming on NOW.
Ryan Condal, Co-Creator/Showrunner/Executive Producer of the new season, said: "House of the Dragon is back. All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at council tables again, marching with their armies and riding their dragons into battle. We can't wait to share what we have in store for you."
In the first season, the series successfully organized an on-set shadowing and mentoring program for production apprentices. Now that filming of the second season is underway, House of the Dragon has once again opened its doors to the WBD Access Directors Shadows program, giving two up-and-coming directors, B. Welby and Ebele Tate, a chance to hone their skills and learn from one of the best crews in the industry.
The cast of the second season will include Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans. Among the actors of the first season, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall e Matthew Needham will also be back in the series.
The second season sees George R.R. Martin as co-producer and executive producer, and is co-created by showrunner and executive producer Ryan Condal. Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, Vince Gerardis executive produce. The series is an adaptiation of George R.R. Martin’s bestseller “Fire and Blood”.
