The new and long-awaited movie Operation
Fortune, directed by Guy Ritchie, is about to debut on Sky. The Sky
Original action movie will make its TV premiere on April 17th at 9:15pm
on Sky Cinema Uno (and also at 9:45pm on Sky Cinema Action), and will also be
available on demand on Sky Go and to stream on NOW.
It centres on superspy Orson Fortune (played by
lead actor Jason Statham), who is recruited by a world counterintelligence
association to try and foil the sale of a powerful and dangerous technological
weapon, called “the handle,” that is threatening to subvert world order and is
owned by the wealthy arms dealer Greg Simmonds (played by Hugh Grant). Along with
some of the best agents in the world, Fortune and his crew recruit the greatest
Hollywood movie star ever, Danny Francesco (portrayed by Josh Hartnett), to
help them in an undercover mission across the world in order to save the
planet.
Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus, Parks and
Recreation), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Stranger Things), and rapper Bugzy
Malone (The Gentlemen) round up the star-studded cast.
Operation Fortune marks the return of Ritchie
and Statham as a team in this amusing and adrenaline-pumping spy action comedy
project, precisely twenty-five years after the premiere of 1998 movie Lock,
Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, which saw Ritchie make his directorial debut as
well as Statham’s rise as a movie superstar.
