Broadcasters including Rai in Italy have acquired blue-chip documentaries from Austrian distributor ORF Enterprise following MipTV last week.
The Italian pubcaster has taken four documentaries, including The Nero Files: Uncovering an Ancient Conspiracy and Augustus & Livia: Empire of Blood, from the Universum History section of ORF Enterprise’s catalogue.
From the latter, the Vienna-based distribution arm of Austrian pubcaster ORF has also sold The Builders of the Alhambra to TV Unam in Mexico.
Elsewhere, international broadcasters picked up titles such as Nabucco, Continent of the Displaced: Europe after the War, Lost City of the Gladiators, The Great Wall, Victims of the Vikings, Christmas in Vienna, Sister Mary from Nairobi, When the Water Rises, Life on the Wing: Miracle of Bird Migration, Hudson River Wild and Tropics, Frost & Perpetual Ice.
These included TG4 in Ireland, RTVE in Spain, Axess TV in Sweden and Histoire, KTO and Ushuaia in France.
Meanwhile, seasons of the long-running drama Soko Kitzbuehel were picked up by Discovery in Italy and Atresmedia in Spain.
ORF Enterprise last week held a cocktail event in Cannes where guests were presented an exclusive trailer for School of Champions, an upcoming ORF original series about the personal struggles of students at a renowned skiing academy, as well as its line-up of wildlife and nature documentaries.
