KOCCA partners with BBC Studios and Viu to expand global reach of K-Content
On August 27th, the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BBC Studios and the Southeast Asian OTT platform Viu to expand the production, investment, and distribution of global broadcast and video content. The signing took place at the 'Broadcast Worldwide (BCWW) 2024' event in Seoul, attended by KOCCA President Hyun-rae Jo, BBC Studios Asia SVP Ryan Shiotani, and Viu COO Lofai Lo.

This MOU aims to address challenges in Korea's content production environment, such as rising production costs and a decline in factual programming. The collaboration will focus on producing high-quality content, promoting global distribution, and developing the broadcast and video content industry both domestically and internationally.

BBC Studios, a subsidiary of the UK's BBC, and Viu, an OTT platform operating in 16 countries, are key partners in this initiative. Both organizations highlighted the significance of this collaboration in enhancing K-content’s global presence. KOCCA President Jo emphasized the partnership as a pivotal moment for the global expansion of K-content.
