Rendez-Vous Le Havre - Special Premiere of The Legends of Paris: A Tale of the 19th Century Directed by Amélie Harrault
On the first day of Le Rendez-Vous in Le Havre (2-6 September 2024), Arte Distribution hosted a special screening of the much-anticipated animated series The Legends of Paris: A Tale of the 19th Century .

The four-part series directed by Amélie Harrault and produced by Arte and Silex Films, takes viewers on an extraordinary journey through the lives and adventures of legendary 19th-century artists, including Victor Hugo, George Sand, Hector Berlioz, and Honoré de Balzac.

The Legends of Paris is not just another animated series. It is a groundbreaking project that reveals the deepest secrets of these romantic heroes, offering an immersive experience into their worlds. With its innovative storytelling and exquisite animation, the series invites viewers to explore the artistic and cultural landscapes that shaped these iconic figures.

"The world glints into our stories and our culture, our innovative spirits," remarked Sarah Hemar (Director of Audiovisual at Unifrance) during the premiere. "This genre allows us to share our values with a global audience, fostering understanding and appreciation across borders. Today, we are privileged to share images at length that were first seen at the French TV screening of the Rendez-vous in Paris last January."

The premiere event also highlighted the international collaboration behind this ambitious project. An impressive team of 90 people, working tirelessly in a studio in Angoulême, brought the series to life. They created 30 characters and over 2,000 Parisian settings, the equivalent of two feature films in animation, making this series a monumental achievement in the field.

"Behind those numbers, there is a very talented and passionate female director, Amélie Harrault," said Judit Nora, the producer of the series- she has challenged us to create the series she dreamed of as a teenager, one that opens our eyes to literature, poetry, music, and painting."

Joséphine Létang, Head of International Distribution & Marketing (Arte) confirmed:"Legend of Paris. It is quite an amazing show. For us, it is a true TV event, a turning point in how we tell stories and how we present history to the audience. This is magnificent as it is captivating. It transports the audience directly into history, up close to these great historical figures that you will meet in a few seconds."
