The fourth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria will delve into the creative process behind HBO’s new original Mexican series, Como Agua para Chocolate, with an exclusive presentation of never-before-seen images and a panel with its creators in the "Upcoming" section of Iberscreenings.

In a conversation with the creators, attendees will learn how this iconic work will be brought to international screens, the key elements of adapting it for television, the portrayal of Latin American magical realism, and the challenges of producing a local series with global appeal. The panel will feature Jerry Rodríguez, showrunner and executive producer of Como Agua para Chocolate and Senior Vice President of Scripted Content at EndemolShine Boomdog (Mexico), and Jorge Tijerina, Head of Scripted Content Development for Mexico at Warner Bros. Discovery.

Set to premiere soon on HBO and Max, Como Agua para Chocolate is based on Laura Esquivel's 1989 novel, which has been published in over 30 languages and adapted into one of the most successful Latin American films worldwide. This HBO original production was filmed in Mexico under the direction of renowned fiction series directors Julián de Tavira and Ana Lorena Pérez Ríos, with a stellar Mexican cast including Irene Azuela, Azul Guaita, Ari Brickman, Ana Valeria Becerril, Andrea Chaparro, Andrés Baida, Ángeles Cruz, and Louis David Horné.

The series features executive production by Salma Hayek Pinault, José Tamez, and Siobhan Flynn for Ventanarosa Productions; Sharon Levy, Lisa Fahrenholt, and Flavio Morales for Endemol Shine North America; Alejandro Rincón, Jerry Rodriguez, and Clara Machado, with Manuel Vargas overseeing physical production for Endemol Shine Boomdog; and Mariano Cesar, Mônica Albuquerque, and Anouk Aarón for Warner Bros.

Iberseries & Platino Industria, the leading international gathering of the Ibero-American audiovisual industry, is driven by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, in collaboration with FIPCA, and supported by the Community of Madrid, the Madrid City Council, ICEX Spain Export and Investments, and sponsors such as Madrid Film Office and Film Madrid. The fourth edition will take place from October 1-4 at Matadero Madrid, with over 1,500 professionals from the film and audiovisual sectors already confirmed to attend.
