Movistar Plus+ International is set to showcase its latest and upcoming series in an exclusive event for buyers during Iberseries & Platino Industria. The event, part of the Iberscreenings section, will take place on Thursday, October 3, at the Azcona Hall in Matadero Madrid.
During this special session, attendees will be treated to a reel featuring some of the platform's most successful and anticipated series. The lineup includes La Mesías (Movistar Plus+, Suma Content), Galgos (Movistar Plus+, Buendía Estudios), Muertos S.L. (Movistar Plus+, Contubernio S.L.), Marbella (Movistar Plus+, Buendía Estudios Canarias), Bellas Artes (Movistar Plus+, Gloriamundi, Historias Particulares), and Segunda Muerte (Movistar Plus+, DLO Producciones).
Additionally, Movistar Plus+ International will offer a sneak peek of its most highly anticipated new fiction titles, Querer and Los Años Nuevos. Distribution Managers Fabrizia Palazzo and Rebeca Aguilar from Movistar Plus+ will participate in the session, which will be followed by a networking event for invited industry professionals. This showcase is one of many initiatives the platform will present at the event.
Querer, produced by Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Kowalski Films and Feelgood Media, is the first television series directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa. Set for release on Movistar Plus+ in October, Querer marks a significant milestone in the director's career following her Goya Award for Best New Director for Cinco Lobitos.
The series, written by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa alongside Eduard Sola and Júlia de Paz, spans four episodes. The cast includes Nagore Aranburu (Irati, Intimidad, Loreak), Pedro Casablanc (B, la película), Miguel Bernardeau (1899, Élite), Iván Pellicer (Paraíso), and Loreto Mauleón (Los renglones torcidos de Dios, Patria).
After 30 years of marriage and raising two children, Miren leaves her marital home and accuses her husband of continuous sexual assault. This serious accusation forces their children to choose between believing their mother or supporting their father, who maintains his innocence. The family’s journey runs parallel to the legal proceedings, with both paths seeking to uncover the truth.
Los Años Nuevos, an original Movistar Plus+ series produced in collaboration with Caballo Films, will also be distributed internationally by Movistar Plus+ International. Directed and executive-produced by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, the series was created by Sara Cano, Paula Fabra, and Sorogoyen himself. Sandra Romero and David Martín de los Santos join Sorogoyen in directing the episodes.
This marks the third collaboration between Sorogoyen and Movistar Plus+, following the critically acclaimed series Antidisturbios and Apagón.
The series follows the lives of Ana and Óscar, played by Iria del Río and Francesco Carril, over a decade. The 10-episode drama unfolds around New Year's Eve celebrations each year. Ana turns 30 on New Year's Day, living in a shared apartment, dissatisfied with her job, and frequently changing friends. Óscar, who turns 30 on New Year's Eve, seems to have everything figured out, working as a dedicated doctor with loyal friends and a stable relationship. On the night of their 30th birthdays, they meet, fall in love, and embark on a decade-long, on-and-off relationship.
