All3Media International has announced Duck Soup’s glittering, moving and groundbreaking drama Lost Boys & Fairies has been acquired by BritBox in the US and Canada. Exploring the universal themes of family, love and parenting through the perspective of gay adoption, the drama is written by Daf James and marks the first title from All3Media International’s first look deal with Duck Soup.
In Europe, deals have also been signed with prestigious public service channel ARTE, who will launch the drama in France and Germany and premium SVOD Filmin has taken a first window in Spain. The series launched earlier this year in Stan (Australia), Rialto (New Zealand), NPO (the Netherlands) SVT (Sweden) and YES (Israel).
Launching earlier this year on BBC One, Lost Boys & Fairies received widespread critical acclaim, calling the series ‘Radical’ (The i), ’beautiful…emotional (Guardian) and ‘poignant’ (The Financial Times). Internationally, the series has been selected for a number of premium international festivals. Premiering at Berlinale this year, this groundbreaking drama has also travelled to Series Fest in Denver, Seriencamp in Cologne where it took home the Official Competition Award and Festival De La Fiction in La Rochelle, where the series won Best European Fiction Award. It will also screen at Out Fest in Orlando in October.
Lost Boys & Fairies follows Gabriel a performance artist extraordinaire at spectacular queer club space Neverland. Together with his partner, Andy, he longs to take their relationship to the next level by adopting a child. We follow Gabe on a coming of middle-age journey as he faces his own childhood trauma so he can help Jake deal with this. Fusing queer culture with powerful family drama, Lost Boys & Fairies is filled to the brim with humour, redemption and love.

The series, led by Cardiff-born actor Sion Daniel Young (Witness Number 3, Deceit, Slow Horses) and star of stage and screen Fra Fee (Cabaret, Les Misérables) appear in lead roles as Gabriel and Andy, respectively. The cast also includes Elizabeth Berrington (Stella, The Pact) and Olivier Award-winner Sharon D. Clarke who is set to lead All3Media International’s new detective drama Ellis.

Lost Boys and Fairies is created and written by Welsh writer Daf James, directed by James Kent (The Capture, Testament of Youth), and produced by Duck Soup Films for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
