Anastasia Hoppanova's drama series concept, Earthling, has won the 2024 Hypewriter Grand Prize, announced at the pitch forum of the international series competition yesterday. The jury, which included Virág Zomborácz and Péter Kolosi from RTL Hungary, as well as Kristoffer Rus and Bence Trunkó from Paprika Studios, selected Earthling as the standout among eight high-quality finalists. Hoppanova earned a €10,000 prize and the opportunity to develop her series further with Paprika Studios and RTL Hungary.

The series follows a quirky woman who claims to be an alien arriving in a picturesque small town. Only a conspiracy theorist and single father of three believes her story. As rumors spread and the government begins to close in, she struggles to adapt to human life, secretly repairs her spaceship, and builds a new family. The mystery remains whether she’s truly extraterrestrial or just eccentric.

This sixth edition of Hypewriter attracted nearly 250 entries from 40 countries. Fifteen creators advanced to a semi-final workshop, and eight finalists presented their ideas in Budapest on October 8. Despite challenges in the market, the jury highlighted the strength and originality of the competing projects, especially Earthling, which Péter Kolosi noted could work across both linear television and streaming formats.
