On Saturday, October 12, 2024, the day after its launch, Canal+ proudly announced a "record-breaking start." The premiere, which aired at 8:50 p.m. on October 11, drew in 498,000 viewers.
In the show, 13 contestants are introduced, competing in real-time over 13 days in a life-sized version of Loups Garous. Their goal is to unmask the three traitors hidden among them before they are all eliminated. With online viewership included, the total audience surpassed two million. The first two episodes were made freely available to everyone on the MyCanal platform, where they remain accessible. The game, inspired by the popular board game of the same name, was created by comedians Fary and Panayotis Pascot and takes place in the fictional village of Thiercelieux, specifically designed for the show.
The cast consists of skilled strategists and experts in deception, including a mentalist, a former DGSE agent, a journalist, and a professional poker player. Some play the roles of innocent villagers, while others are secretly werewolves, set to devour their opponents at night without being caught.
"The village awakens, and it's a huge success for Loups Garous, making it the best launch for a Canal+ Original Creation!" said Gérald-Brice Viret, General Manager of Canal+ France, as reported by CNews.
