Banijay Entertainment has announced a new feature-length documentary, The Silence of the Earth, which highlights the urgent issue of climate justice. Produced by Diagonal TV (Banijay Iberia) and Crescendo Media, in association with Banijay Rights, the film will debut at MIPCOM 2024. Directed by Eulogio Romero, the documentary focuses on the lives and tragic deaths of environmental activists Berta Cáceres, Paulo Paulino Guajajara, and Aldo Zamora, who were killed defending the planet. It exposes the corporate and local powers behind their murders and connects their stories to the global climate crisis.
Jordi Frades, Managing Director of Diagonal TV, describes the film as a call to action, combining investigative thriller and drama to inspire audiences. Cathy Payne, CEO of Banijay Rights, emphasizes the documentary’s importance in sparking conversations on corporate power, human rights, and climate change. The Silence of the Earth will be part of Banijay’s factual line-up for MIPCOM 2024, alongside other documentaries like Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain, Atomic People, and 7/7: Three Weeks in July
