Directed by Alessio Maria Federici (Non ci resta che il crimine – La serie, (Im)perfetti Criminali), the show stars Salvatore Esposito (Gomorra – La serie, Fargo, Spaccapietre) as police inspector Vincenzo Palmieri, alongside Silvia D’Amico (Christian, A casa tutti bene – La serie) as Commissioner Sonia Ascarelli and Fabio Balsamo (Generazione 56k, Pesci piccoli) as Deputy Inspector Michele Noviello.
Produced by Sky Studios, Wildside (Fremantle Group), and Titanus Production (Titanus Group), the four-episode series pays homage to the legendary Bud Spencer and his 1973 cult classic Piedone Lo Sbirro. The story was developed by Salvatore Esposito, Giuseppe Pedersoli, Peppe Fiore, Laura Grimaldi, Paolo Piccirillo, and Jacopo Sonnino, with a screenplay penned by Fiore, Grimaldi, Piccirillo, and Sonnino.
Vincenzo Palmieri, a gritty and unconventional police inspector, embodies the spirit of his mentor, Commissioner Rizzo—better known as Piedone. Palmieri is notorious for his rough-around-the-edges approach, described as rebellious, irritable, and nonconforming. However, his undeniable talent and unique sense of justice make him a force to be reckoned with.
In stark contrast, Commissioner Sonia Ascarelli is the epitome of discipline and order, relying on rules and procedures—a direct challenge to Palmieri’s rogue methods. Alongside them is Michele Noviello, a history enthusiast turned police officer who brings warmth, intuition, and a rare humanity to the team.
The series is focused on Inspector Vincenzo Palmieri retuning to Naples. As a protégé of the beloved Piedone, he must gain the trust of his new team while proving that his unorthodox techniques are the key to solving complex cases in a city teeming with challenges. Commissioner Sonia Ascarelli, steadfast and by-the-book, ensures his journey won’t be easy. Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector Noviello offers a quiet yet invaluable contribution to the team.
