La Farfalla Impazzita is a 2025 Italian television film directed by Kiko Rosati, based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Giulia Spizzichino, co-written with General and writer Roberto Riccardi. The film stars Elena Sofia Ricci as Giulia Spizzichino and Massimo Wertmüller as her husband, Umberto. The story follows Giulia Spizzichino, a Roman Jew who survived the Nazi roundup of Rome's Jewish ghetto on October 16, 1943. She lost 26 family members in the Holocaust, many of whom were killed in the Fosse Ardeatine massacre. The film portrays her lifelong struggle with the trauma of these events and her relentless pursuit of justice. In 1994, upon learning that Erich Priebke, a former Nazi officer responsible for the Fosse Ardeatine massacre, was living in Argentina, Giulia played a pivotal role in his extradition to Italy, leading to his trial and conviction.
