Remembering Gila Kantar: A Legacy of Creativity, Kindness, and Unforgettable Grace
The MIP London (London, February 23-27, 2025) opened with a very sad news: our dear colleague and friend, Gila Kantar, has passed away. This news fills us with sorrow as we reflect on the vibrant spirit she was and the incredible impact she made in our industry.

I remember the countless times we met at Mipcom in Cannes, where it was always a true pleasure to spend time with Gila. She had such a unique way of sharing the things she was working on, her immense creativity, and her passion for the television industry. Whether she was writing TV programs or leading the business at Global Agency alongside her beloved brother, Izzet, Gila never held back when it came to her energy, kindness, and impeccable manners.

Her beauty was not just in her appearance, but in her generosity, her willingness to help others, and her optimism that shone through in everything she did. Gila had a magical ability to make you feel welcome, valued, and cared for, always greeting you with that unforgettable smile.

But beyond her professional achievements, it was Gila's warmth, her grace, and her profound love for life that left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Even in the most challenging moments, Gila faced life with a strength and positivity that inspired all who knew her. Her sweet nature and deep femininity resonated in all her interactions, making her a beacon of light in a sometimes dark world.

Gila Kantar was born in Istanbul in 1970. After completing her education at Şişli Terakki High School, she went on to study at College Du Leman in Geneva. In 2006, she co-founded Global Agency, a company dedicated to bringing Turkish TV series and game shows to the global stage. She created many innovative competition formats that reached audiences worldwide and captured their imaginations.

Gila was a woman of many talents and passions. She was also a loving wife and mother, and her book, which shared her lifestyle and inspirations, stands as a testament to her spirit and her approach to life. Her legacy will live on through her work, her creativity, and the countless lives she touched.

Gila, you will never be forgotten. You will always have a special place in our hearts, and your memory will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear friend.
