Beta Film has sold the Ukrainian war drama In Her Car to Japan, Czech Republic, Latvia and to Slovakia, while further negotiations with key clients are underway.
Filmed under utmost challenging conditions in war-torn Ukraine, In Her Car will celebrate its world premiere on Monday, February 19, 7pm, at Café Kyiv/Colosseum in Berlin as part of a special event dedicated to the future of Ukraine in Europe, hosted by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The screening is followed by a Q&A with creatives, producers, and broadcasters.
The Gaumont-Startlight Media coproduction will be broadcast simultaneously on Europeans most significant pubcasters in commemoration of the second anniversary of the Russian invasion. Partnering are ZDFneo (Germany), France Télévisions (France), SRF (Switzerland), SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), YLE (Finland), NRK TV (Norway), RÚV (Iceland) and NHK (Japan).
In Her Car (10 x half hour) follows the journey of Lydia (How is Katia? star Anastasia Karpenko) who embarks on a mission to bring people to safety following the Russian invasion in February 2022.
The groundbreaking Ukrainian drama series focuses on the emotional and social effects of war, blending personal stories with cinematic authenticity to underscore the resilience of the human spirit amid the chaos.
Showrunner and creator is Eugen Tunik, who also directs alongside Arkadii Nepytaliuk.
