German broadcaster ProSieben has announced the production of a brand-new daily drama series set in a culinary world. Titled Die Cooking Academy, the series is scheduled to begin filming this March at Schloss Haniel, near Cologne, with a planned total of 120 episodes.
This marks ProSieben’s return to the daily drama format for the first time in 18 years, following Lotta in Love, the telenovela starring Janin Ullmann, which aired from 2006 to 2007.
Set at the fictional Cooking Academy Culinary Arts by Alexander Eichen near the German-French border, the series promises a blend of high-stakes professional cooking and personal drama. According to ProSieben, viewers can expect a mix of friendship, intrigue, romance, rivalry, family ties, performance pressure, and passion—a flavorful recipe for daily drama success.
The cast includes a mix of seasoned soap actors and new faces. ProSieben has recruited talent from beloved German series: Simone Hanselmann (GZSZ), Lea Marlen Woitack (Sturm der Liebe, Rote Rosen), and Mirco Wallraf (Verbotene Liebe, Marienhof) are all part of the ensemble.
Leading the show is 27-year-old newcomer Lara Kimpel, who plays the protagonist Irini Dimitriou. Also joining the lineup are relatively unknown actors Louis Jérôme Wagenbrenner and Brian Rosenkranz, bringing fresh energy to the cast.
ProSieben has revealed that Die Cooking Academy is slated to launch in Spring 2025, though the exact premiere date and time slot remain under wraps for now.
