FOX has successfully launched Extracted, a new survival competition series that premiered on Monday, February 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Produced by the teams behind Alone and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, the show presents a different approach to survival challenges by incorporating family decision-making into the competition. The debut episode of Extracted performed well in ratings: it achieved a 0.38 rating in A18-49, making it one of the strongest unscripted debuts in over a year.
According to a press note released by the network, the show marked FOX’s highest-rated Monday original in over a year and a half (since 9-1-1 finale, 5/15/23).
It surpassed ABC’s The Bachelor in A18-49 (0.38 vs. 0.36) and A25-54 (0.53 vs. 0.46).
The premiere delivered a +73% increase over FOX’s Fall Monday 8-9 PM entertainment average (0.38 vs. 0.22 in A18-49).

In Extracted, 12 amateur participants attempt to survive in the Canadian wilderness, facing difficult terrain, harsh weather, and the presence of wildlife. Unlike other survival shows, the participants’ fate is partly determined by their families, who watch from a remote headquarters via a 24/7 live feed. Families must decide whether their loved ones should continue in the competition or be extracted, removing them from the game and ending their chance at the $250,000 prize.

Beyond endurance, the series introduces a psychological element, as families must weigh the risks of pushing their contestant forward. Meanwhile, alliances and strategies emerge as competing families negotiate the distribution of resources that could help—or hinder—the participants in the wild.

Extracted is produced by B17 Entertainment (a part of Sony Pictures Television), Balboa Productions, and FOX Alternative Entertainment. The executive producers include Rhett Bachner, Brien Meagher, Sylvester Stallone, Braden Aftergood, Lauren Taylor Harding, Dan Bree, and Rob Buchta, who also serves as showrunner.
