TrustNordisk to announce that have secured the international sales rights for To New Beginning - a new feel-good drama directed by Paprika Steen with screenplay by Jakob Weis.

Produced by Nordisk Film Production and starring Tuva Novotny (THE KINGDOM, 2022; THE ABYSS, 2023), Anders W. Berthelsen (THE KILLING, 2012), Birgitte Hjort Sørensen (GAME OF THRONES, 2015; PITCH PERFECT 2, 2015), Christian Tafdrup (BORGEN, 2013) and Lars Brygmann (RIDERS OF JUSTICE, 2020) among others, TO NEW BEGINNINGS unfolds the story about a group of old friends and how their relationships are redefined during New Year’s Eve.

To New Beginning is director Paprika Steen’s fifth feature film. After her debut AFTERMATH (2004), which was followed up by WITH YOUR PERMISSION (2007), she has in recent years displayed her unique talent for directing dramedies with a focus on group dynamics in THAT TIME OF YEAR (2018) and FATHERS AND MOTHERS (2022). This time, she points the lens towards long-standing friendships in a dramedy which with both humour and emotional depth unfolds a story about everything left unsaid in friendships and how relations can change over time.

Synopsis:
A group of old friends reunite for New Years Eve, as they have done so many times before, for a night full of traditions and memories. But one of their friends, Martin, is not present as he passed away in a tragic incident years ago. This evening, Nomi, Martin’s former girlfriend, introduces her new boyfriend, Finn, to the group for the first time. But Finn doesn’t quite fit in, and with a solid lack of situational awareness, he asks all the wrong questions, gradually forcing the group to confront what they’ve suppressed and reflect on their relationships - and not least, themselves. It will be an evening they will never forget, but also an evening that might open a door to a new beginning for every one of them.

To New Beginning is currently in post-production with domestic theatrical release currently set for late 2025. TrustNordisk will introduce the film to buyers for the first time during the upcoming Marché du Film in Cannes.

To New Beginning is directed by Paprika Steen, written by Jakob Weis and produced by Mikael Rieks for Nordisk Film Production. The film is supported by The Danish Film Institute’s Market Scheme and TV2 Denmark with local distribution by Nordisk Film Distribution. TrustNordisk handles international sales.
