Abacus Media Rights (AMR), a member of the Amcomri Media Group, announces the appointment of Charlie Charalambous who joins the expanding AMR team as Head of Acquisitions, based in London.
Charlie, an experienced TV professional with knowledge of both the UK and International entertainment markets, joins the team from UKTV, where he was responsible for acquiring and investing in programming for the network’s seven channels as well as working across BBC Studios’ global channels and VOD services.
At UKTV, Charlie helped shape the content acquisition strategies across the network including Alibi, Dave, Yesterday and W, with deals including the Father Brown spin-off series Sister Boniface Mysteries starring Lorna Watson, RTE’s Smother hit nineteenth century crime drama Miss Scarlet and The Duke, Limetown starring Jessica Biel and Stanley Tucci, and Beta Film’s best-selling series Hudson & Rex. Prior to this, Charlie worked in Programming and Acquisitions at Sky securing content for Sky Atlantic, Sky 1, Sky Arts and Sky Living, and at Turner Broadcasting and Showtime.
Recent acquisitions from AMR include Four Hours at the Capitol and In the Shadow of 9/11 from prolific Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning director Dan Reed (Leaving Neverland), Epstein’s Shadow: Ghislaine Maxwell, an uncompromising 3-hour documentary by Blue Ant Studios, Vox Picture’s feature length conspiracy thriller The Trick, Sort Of the big-hearted comedy drama from Sienna Films, factual series Viking’s: The Rise And Fall which was coproduced by Night Train Media & Dash Pictures, and feature documentary This is Joan Collins, the extraordinary life story of the Hollywood icon, produced by Salon Pictures.
