Joyn, part of the Seven. One Entertainment Group, has officially commissioned the first international adaptation of the reality series The Power in Germany, with a premiere slated for later this year. This marks the first local version of the format outside its home territory of France.
Meanwhile, back in France, anticipation is building as season 2 of format is set to premiere on W9 on April 7, 2025. The show's debut in April 2024 was a success, delivering the channel’s strongest entertainment launch since 2022 and securing its place as one of last year's most talked-about formats.
Created by Dreamspark and Studio 89, and produced by Studio 89, The Power has proven to be a format juggernaut, with sales in 18 territories and growing. The show’s unique concept has struck a chord with audiences, blending mystery, strategy, and social gameplay in an intense reality setting.
Each week, a celebrity secretly assumes the role of the “power player,” gaining full control over the house and the fate of their fellow contestants. From assigning beds and meals to determining privileges and penalties, the power player pulls the strings—so long as their identity remains hidden. At week’s end, they nominate one contestant for elimination. That contestant's only chance at survival? Correctly identifying the power player, who will be eliminated instead if exposed.
"We are thrilled to see The Power continue its momentum with a new season on W9 and an adaptation in Germany," said Dimitri Gelineau, Sales Manager at M6 Formats. "This format, which uniquely explores the dynamics of power, has resonated with the French audience, and we are confident it will achieve similar success internationally."
Moe Bennani, CEO of Dreamspark, added: "I’m incredibly proud of this Season 2 in France, set in a brand-new house. This season revolves around the theme of counter-power, designed to surprise both our cast and viewers, disrupting all established dynamics. Meanwhile, filming has just begun for our German celebrities, and I’m thrilled to see that the show’s mechanics are working perfectly with an extended series of 50 episodes. We’re working closely with our partners in all countries to help them successfully bring this exciting format to their local audiences."
