To cheer up this homemade Easter, a surprise for children and families arrives on RaiPlay: Topo Gigio! The first 13 episodes of the brand new Rai Ragazzi animated series, which we will see next autumn on Rai Yoyo, are ready and from April 8 they will be available to everyone on RaiPlay and on the app dedicated to the youngest RaiPlay Yoyo.
The animated series on Topo Gigio, produced entirely in Italy by Topo Gigio Srl and Movimenti Production in collaboration with Rai Ragazzi, is the latest project worked by Maria Perego, who participated in the creation and writing of the episodes. 52 episodes that will be aired on Rai Yoyo in the autumn. Each episode is a story and therefore the public will be able to fully appreciate this Easter preview.
Blonde hair, protruding teeth, large round ears and an unmistakable little voice with which she pronounces her favorite phrase: "but what do you ever tell me?". This is the identikit of Topo Gigio, the puppet invented by Maria Perego who for 60 years has lived in the collective imagination of Italians but not only.
This brand new series, made in 2D animation between Milan and Florence, tells the daily adventures of the first mouse that lives in the world of humans: Topo Gigio! For him everything is new and interesting, even a boring search on magnets or a simple game in the courtyard with his friends Zoe, Bike Bob and the GTeam. Because Topo Gigio may seem like a quiet mouse but behind that sweet air hides a dynamic mouse full of ideas.
"Topo Gigio is not a puppet, but a neologism created by my work ... it has the innocence, the amazement, the sense of inadequacy of the children. That's why everyone falls in love with it," said Maria Perego, the brilliant author of the character who passed away last November at the age of 95, who supervised the animated series until the end.
Topo Gigio's debut coincides with that of Italian black and white TV, which still makes him a beloved character by those who were children at the time, with a success that continues to this day even beyond Italian borders. But this new series by Topo Gigio is not an amarcord operation. It is to celebrate an Italian excellence with new talents of national animation to offer today's audience a still very current character. A great Easter gift for all Italian families to smile together with the famous mouse who, like all of us, especially in this period, is eager for tenderness.
